Work Loft Coronavirus/COVID-19 Update

Dear Work Loft members and friends,

We’re reaching out to all of you as we navigate the rapidly changing circumstances around Coronavirus/COVID-19.  We want our workplace to continue to be a healthy environment, and with that in mind, we wish to communicate what we’re doing to mitigate risks within our space, and what we need you to do as a part of our community to help us all stay healthy and safe.

At the moment we are remaining open. There are many people in our community who are struggling to work effectively from home. Not everyone has the convenience of a home workspace or the luxury of conditions at home that enable them to do their job well.  So we are working hard to make our space available and safe for those who need it. That said, we are prepared to close at any moment, and we are monitoring the situation constantly.

What we’re doing:

  • We’ve expanded our cleaning routine and are now wiping down all work surfaces, chair backs & arms, doorknobs, handles, etc, with disinfectant spray at the beginning of each day.  "High touch" surfaces are also being sanitized periodically throughout our staffed hours.

  • We have reduced our capacity by removing seating. This work is ongoing; once completed it will ensure that the total number of seats in the space will provide maximum capacity of 25 for the entire building, including private offices. We will be spacing seats in the open area to ensure that they enjoy a minimum 6 foot distance from their neighboring seat(s).

  • We have put hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes out for you to use (in addition to regularly washing your hands, of course!)

  • We have put out disposable hot and cold cups for you to use and are also using the ‘Hi Temp’ and ‘Sani Rinse’ features with every wash cycle of our dishwasher.  ‘Hi Temp’ increases the normal wash temperature, and ‘Sani Rinse’ is a defined term that ensures sanitization of the contents by heating the final rinse water to 155 degrees F. This is an NSF/ANSI certification for sanitation in residential dishwashers.

  • We are changing up our snack options by temporarily removing/replacing items that do not have wrappers, such as pastries and fruits.

What you can do:

  • If you are not feeling well, stay home and get the rest you need.

  • Remember to wash your hands regularly and thoroughly.

  • Use disinfecting wipes to clean your workstation after you’ve finished using it each day - just like at the gym! Wipes are located under the TV.

  • If you choose to use the reusable dishes and cutlery, please rinse them with hot water and load them into the dishwasher yourself, rather than leaving them in the sink.

  • Given our new lower-density seating arrangements, if you arrive and see that no seat is available in the open area, that means we have reached maximum capacity while maintaining safe social distancing.  Please return home and send an email to info@workloftmhd.com letting us know you were unable to use the space.

  • If you have had close contact with someone with a positive or presumptive diagnosis of COVID-19, or if you have recently returned from an outbreak country, in addition to following the official guidelines regarding self-quarantine, please inform us of your situation.

Thank you for taking the time to read this note!  With your support, we will weather the storm. For additional information on COVID-19 in Massachusetts, Click here to see the Mass.gov info site on Coronavirus.
